about

'I want to play a game.' No, this is not the sadistic jigsaw killer speaking – it's Remute through his funky vocoder! The musician from Hamburg, who built his reputation with techno-hits like „Zuendli“ or with remixes for Solomun, GusGus or Daniel Avery amongst others, strikes back with his new album 'Play The Game'!
Deeply rooted in gamemusic-reminiscences of the 8- and 16bit era, Remute drops a bunch of eclectic songs oscillating between Blade Runner-esque Electro, shiny Synthwave (check 'Inferno' feat. SHDWS!) and raw Techno erratically flickering like a Super Mario look-alike on mushrooms trapped in Amiga-wonderland.
Furthermore the headlining tune 'Play The Game' is a 100% authentic JPop-Disco-cut and seems like a soundtrack of a lost obscure SciFi-Anime with lots of exploding robots. Lil' Fang from Tokyo, who indeed sang a couple of Anime-themes and is famous for being a member of the major-girlgroup FAKY, provides the charming, irresistible vocals here.
We're keeping it japanese with 'Escalator' , an electro-monstertune which Remute produced with Japan's best DJ Shinichi Osawa after being totally impressed by speaking escalators in Shibuya and Akihabara.
Yes, it all sounds kinda weird. But hey – it's a Remute record and 'Bringing The Weird' (co-produced with Rainbow Kitten from Pittsburgh) is probably, well, the weirdest tune you ever heard...
The most dancefloor-friendly song of the album is 'The Solution' – a collab with multi-platinum-awarded singer Plavka from LA, who many of you still know from her work with Jam&Spoon or The Shamen in the 90s. Her highly emotional signature vocals on 'The Solution' prove that even TechHouse still can be soulful.
'Play The Game' consists of 16 songs in total and is Remute's catchiest album of his already 15 years spanning career. This is his next step, uhm, let's better say 'the next level' in his adventurous game.
Enough talk - LET'S PLAY!
